Overview

The Director, Learning & Development drives the L&D strategy to enable a culture of continuous learning and capability-building across the organization. This role leverages data, talent planning insights, and stakeholder feedback to diagnose learning needs of the organization, particularly in leadership development, cross-functional skills, and the cultivation of Global Core Competencies that define success across the organization. While shaping overall strategy and leading a team of two, the Director, Learning & Development is also actively designs and develops engaging, innovative, and impactful learning experiences and leadership curriculums. This role enables development planning, facilitates key organizational and leadership learning programs, and partners with the HR Business Partner team to provide resources and toolkits to support their individual client needs.

Responsibilities

Essential Role Responsibilities
  • Drive organizational L&D strategy to meet the needs of a growing organization, creating an innovative, need-specific curriculum; evaluate existing programs and introduce new programs as needed
  • Design, develop and implement the Insmed learning experience, applying adult learning theory and design thinking to design, develop, pilot and deliver engaging and effective learning experiences spanning the 70-20-10 model that enable organizational goals and strategy
  • Embrace Insmed’s leadership philosophy to lead a high-performing team
  • Collaborate with key business stakeholders to understand organizational needs and capability gaps
  • Guide leadership on development planning best practices, and provide resources to enable individuals across the organization to create robust, impactful development plans
  • Facilitate high engagement and effective workshops across the organization, both in-person and virtual sessions; seeking opportunities to engage employees across all regions and functions, ensuring opportunities regardless of role and location
  • Identify, evaluate and partner with external vendors and thought leaders to broaden curriculum and supplement internally developed programs to ensure subject matter expertise, industry best practices and innovative approaches are delivered through Insmed Learning Institute offerings
  • Utilize creativity and design skills to create course assets and communications that are engaging and compelling
  • Continuously innovate and improve learning design and approach by staying ahead of learning & development industry trends, tools, and technology, including AI
  • Analyze data, insights, and stakeholder feedback to ensure the organizational L&D strategy is data-driven and linked to  
  • Champion a culture of learning at Insmed, including support for the use of innovative learning experiences, such as social learning
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partner team to develop templates and workshops to leverage for large-scale client engagements; create toolkits and facilitate ‘train the trainerʼ sessions to enable scalable delivery of new content; work with Regional HR Business Partners to globalize training for varying cultures
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organization Development, Education, or other related field required
  • Minimum 10 years of Human Resources Experience required, including 5+ years of related Learning & Development experience; prior experience in Pharma and/or Biotech a plus
  • Experience designing, developing and facilitating leadership development programs and curriculums
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing training programs and related learning assets in multiple synchronous and asynchronous modalities, including instructor-led learning, eLearning, and social learning
  • Experience managing, coaching, and developing direct reports while cultivating a high performing team
  • Experience designing learning solutions for a cross-functional, multi-level Global audience
  • Highly proficient in Articulate 360, Vyond, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office 365 suite, and other learning/content development tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly effective facilitation skills, with experience facilitating learning experiences for all levels and across multiple modalities
  • Strong project management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of adult learning, instruction design methodology and tools, design thinking and current L&D trends
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow through, with ability to be flexible and adapt to in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Ability to cultivate relationships, consult and collaborate across all levels and functions within a global organization
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems or Learning Experience Systems; prior experience with Workday Learning a plus

Salary Range

$171,000 - $239,667 a year
