Overview

The Senior Manager, Program Management supports the cross-functional drug development and commercialization activities of pipeline or inline products at Insmed and will support Senior Program Managers with the development, creation, and implementation of high quality, global, coordinated cross-functional project plans for products in accordance with the program strategy. The Senior Manager of Program Management will apply best-in-class program management tools and knowledge to support the integrated Program and Functional development plans. You will work closely with Senior PMs to manage and lead the cross-functional product sub-teams, will translate the strategic program strategy into a cross-functional project plan with identified critical path activities, and will engage with collaborators and functions to ensure team members understand and are aligned with program goals, objectives and critical path. We are open to discussions about location flexibility or remote work arrangements; however, co-location with the San Diego Office is preferred. Reporting to the Executive Director of Program Management.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with Senior PMs and functional leads to develop high quality, integrated, cross-functional plans for cross-functional sub-teams that are aligned with the overall program strategy; Visualize timelines in succinct and impactful ways to support communication, scenario planning, and decision-making
  • Ensures cross-functional alignment and accountability
  • Supports vendor management and vendor activities in support of achieving program timeline milestones
  • Documents issues, decisions, and action items of functional and cross-functional teams and ad hoc project team meetings
  • Supports Senior PMs with risk management and scenario planning activities and develops contingency and/or risk mitigation plans in collaboration with cross-functional team members
  • Contribute to the success of the Project Management Organization (PMO) in achieving its goals & objectives by ensuring program work is conducted in compliance with PMO processes and Company policies and leading organizational and program management processes. Support senior PMs with implementation of key program documentation – Target Product Profile Strategic Development plans, Dashboards, Risk assessments and other key tools to improve organizational processes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific, medical or business focus. An additional/post-graduate qualification will be a distinct advantage (Ph.D., MBA etc.)
  • 3 years of Project/Program Management experience with proven management and/or leadership experience in an R&D, Regulatory, manufacturing/operations or commercial context in a biotech/bio-pharmaceutical environment required
  • Oncology, Neurology, Gene Therapy, or rare disease experience required
  • Emotional intelligence skills including influencing without authority and navigating within a complex environment
  • Experience using Project Management tools, methodologies, practices, and infrastructure, as related to the Biopharmaceutical Industry
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus but not required
  • Entrepreneurial, self-starter with a proven track record of success in fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Results-oriented work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude
  • Teammate with the highest of personal values and ethical standards
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills; should be an effective team leader who can manage and lead in a matrix environment
  • Strategic problem solver with excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to influence all levels of the company

  • Ability to quickly gain credibility and confidence with all levels within the company
  • Well-developed computer skills (e.g., MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
