The Assoc Director, Scientific Communications & Publications is a key member of the Global Medical Affairs team who has scientific, clinical and therapeutic area expertise and responsibility for leading the development and execution of publication plans for their assigned therapeutic area. This role will have high visibility and will form strong working relationships with the cross-functional Insmed team (Medical Affairs, Biometrics, Clinical Development) and externally through engagement with healthcare professional experts and authors. Additionally, the incumbent will lead the development of core slide decks and other materials for the Field Medical Team. The role will ensure compliance with publication-related policies and procedures. This role reports to Senior Director, Scientific Communications & Publications and is based at our Bridgewater, New Jersey headquarters location. Incumbent's title will be determined upon evaluation of credentials and experience.

The Assoc Director, Scientific Communications & Publications will:

• Become a subject matter expert and internal liaison for the assigned therapeutic area
• Lead and facilitate cross-functional publication planning, including generation and execution of annual publication plans and presence at scientific congresses, with an understanding of how these activities support the overall business strategy
• Ensure the timely dissemination of scientific data to a diverse healthcare professional audience, maximizing the communication of the latest data and the unmet medical need of the relevant disease areas
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal partners/authors (biometrics, medical affairs, clinical development) and external authors (experts, principal investigators)
• Interface with medical experts to define literature gaps in the medical community and to develop scientific content for publications.
• Ensure delivery of high-quality, fair-balanced, scientifically/clinically accurate medical communications deliverables in accordance with established timelines, compliance guidelines/policies, and budgets
• Ensure deliverables are in alignment with business strategy, medical affairs strategy and Insmed clinical development programs
• Drive development of Insmed medical materials including slide decks for field medical use
• Ensure the publication development process and all materials produced are in compliance with Insmed policy and guidelines including ICMJE, PhRMA, and GPP3
• Manage external vendors/medical agencies assisting with medical content planning and execution

About You:

• Master’s degree in a scientific discipline, advanced degree preferred (PhD, PharmD or MD)
• At minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, primarily in Medical Affairs publications function is required
• Expert knowledge of relevant guidance including, but not limited to International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) guidelines, CME Open Payments reporting, Good Publication Practice (GPP3)
• Certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP) credentialed preferred
• Minimum 5 years’ experience demonstrated success in design and implementation of Scientific Publications Strategies including oversight to formal needs assessment and other relevant activities
• Demonstrated expertise in understanding and the application of scientific/clinical data to external dissemination to healthcare professionals, medical community and key stakeholders
• Experience in Orphan or Rare Disease areas preferred; prior launch experience a plus
• Experience in pulmonary medicine, immunology, infectious disease preferred
• Medical writing experience
• Ability to manage external vendors and provide clear, concise direction
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and effectively communicate complex scientific and clinical data to internal and external stakeholders
• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail, clarity, accuracy and conciseness
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within collaborative and cross-functional teams
