A unique opportunity for an inquisitive, excellence driven, and strategic leader with developing customer insights & market research capabilities to join a fast paced, innovative, biotech company focused on rare diseases. This position will be located at our Bridgewater, NJ headquarters location.

Responsibilities

The Director, Customer Insights will have responsibility to design, manage and execute strategic and tactical customer insight projects and activities. Reporting to the Senior Director, Commercial Effectiveness, the Director, Customer Insights will be a key member of the Commercial Effectiveness team, and will partner closely with Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Market Access colleagues.

The role of Director, Customer Insights is to lead the design and execution of primary and secondary market research that spans multiple products and indications for the Commercial organization. He/she will be responsible for delivering high quality business insights into Insmed’s current and future product portfolio and relevant competitors. This individual will work closely with marketing and analytics teams to design strategic and tactical research plans to address business questions, inform strategy development and support portfolio planning. Responsibilities include planning and management of primary market research studies, integration of secondary data, tracking competitive landscape and presenting insights to cross-functional teams and senior management. She/He will serve as an internal consultant to senior leadership by providing strategic insights into Insmed’s target markets, thereby helping key internal stakeholders make informed strategic decisions. This individual will partner closely with key internal stakeholders (Marketing, Sales, Commercial Effectiveness, IT, Commercial Operations, Patient Services, Legal, Compliance) to accomplish the responsibilities of this role.

 

  • Anticipate and identify customer insights needs, collaboratively with commercial colleagues, to help inform key business decisions and track performance
  • Conduct the design & execution of primary qualitative and quantitative market research projects, including defining the research objectives, framing critical business questions, developing market research approach, managing the study through vendors or internally, analyzing and interpreting the statistical analyses(e.g. factor analysis, discriminate analysis, perceptual mapping, and conjoint analysis) and communicate the results.
  • Develop and implement new innovative customer insights tools, techniques and processes, including advanced methodologies and analytic tools which reflect best practices.
  • Partner with commercial team on customer segmentation, brand development, pricing, market strategies, and patient services to drive the success of current and future products.
  • Integrate primary market research insights with secondary data findings to build a comprehensive and holistic understanding of the marketplace and key business issues
  • Contribute to the development of competitive intelligence activities including landscape tracking and congress CI strategy.
  • Understand, synthesize and integrate secondary data to create full therapeutic area insights.
  • Quickly become an expert in relevant therapeutic areas, related commercial products, and assets in development to ensure accurate data interpretation and become a trusted strategic partner to key internal stakeholders.
  • Synthesize research findings to inform pre-launch marketing strategies and portfolio planning
  • Ensure cross functional communication and alignment to maximize impact of insights on business strategy.
  • Process, mine and analyze primary data sets for value-add insights.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

About You!

 

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience designing and managing market research, both qualitative and quantitative, required
  • Experience with the management of budgets and agencies/vendors
  • Product launch experience preferred
  • Proven record of success through teamwork and execution
  • High learning agility
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and primary market research management skills
  • Ability to understand, translate and integrate primary market research into actionable insights to drive decision-making is required
  • Expert knowledge of and experience with primary market research tools and techniques
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail, clarity, accuracy and conciseness
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and analytical tools (e.g. SPSS)

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree in business, marketing, statistics, mathematics or related field is required; MBA, MS or other advanced degree preferre
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in strategic consulting, market research, or business development in the biopharmaceutical industry is required
  • Orphan disease experience preferred

Skills:

  • Demonstrated capability to proactively identify, frame and communicate pertinent insights from an array of research inputs in order to derive key opportunities that will guide the commercial business.
  • Detailed understanding and mastery of patient‐level data (e.g., EMR, primary research chart audits, claims, etc), and ability to work closely with agencies and partners to ensure high quality deliverables
  • Able to effectively present meaningful business opportunities and challenges in strategic terms across all levels of organization (i.e. Executive leadership)
  • Excellent collaborative, consultative and solution minded approach working across multiple functions to lead, influence and persuade, without direct authority, through crisp oral and written communication anchored in sound business logic
  • Strong and agile team player able to adapt and execute based on evolving business needs

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel will be minimal – 10%
